Powerful presentations that let participants share their thoughts safely NGO Unge mennesker, Gymnasiestuderende At kombinere anonym deltagende interaktion og robust evaluering i et enkelt, tilpasseligt præsentationsformat When GirlTalk, a small Danish NGO focused on the issues facing young women, do lectures and workshops, a regular slideshow doesn’t meet all their needs. They wanted to give their audience ways to share their thoughts, experiences and wishes directly with each other, but because of the sensitive topics GirlTalk covers, they wanted to let participants do this in ways that did not make them feel singled out, or require them to raise their hand. With the help of DiBL, GirlTalk has built a better slideshow – one that lets participants share their thoughts anonymously with the room through custom word clouds and answer questions that prompt discussion, and one that lets the presenter customize what content is shown on screen on the fly. While some of this could be accomplished with other tools, DiBL uniquely lets GirlTalk combine it all into a single, streamlined presentation format, where they have full control over the visual presentation as well. Finally, DiBL lets GirlTalk include fully-fledged surveys directly into their presentation as well. For workshop participants, who are already using their devices to participate and interact, the transition to giving feedback and answering survey questions is smooth, which provides GirlTalk with more and better answers to their questions. In a way, there is no transition – with DiBL, everything shared by participants is treated as valuable information, and whether a question is meant for discussion during the workshop, or evaluation afterwards, all the data can be retrieved easily, with users remaining completely anonymous. We designed the original case templates through a co-creation process, helping to implement GirlTalk’s vision, but after a brief onboarding process, GirlTalk is now able to easily customize all content in their presentations, and make as many new ones as they need. That includes changing the questions they ask – while our server architecture ensures maximum backwards compatibility of the data, even as questions and content change. NGO
